Sam Hunt wants kids, and his wife is warming up to the idea.

The "Downtown Dead" singer didn't even add "one day" when talking to Ty, Kelly and Chuck about family planning. "I’ve got more baby fever than my wife I think but she’s coming around," he says, smiling.

Those who've followed Hunt for a few years know he's always wanted a family, but until now he didn't have a person to have children with, and he definitely didn't have time in his career-centered schedule. At the 2015 CMA Awards, he told Taste of Country Nights radio host Sam Alex that hanging out on tour with Lady Antebellum and singer Hillary Scott's then-baby girl got him thinking about his figure.

"I'd like to have a little girl or little boy, or both, or several," he said. "Yeah, I think that's in my future, hopefully."

For now Hunt, says he's just enjoying the honeymoon phase of a new marriage to wife Hannah Lee Fowler. This summer he'll be on tour with Luke Bryan, playing stadium shows on weekends and the Taste of Country Music Festival in June. The new two or three dates a week schedule suits him just fine. Gone are the days of four concerts and three media days every week, and he's not upset about it.

"Downtown's Dead" is Hunt's new single, released last week. Another new song is expected to be released in the next few weeks, although the 34-year-old admits he's not close to recording an album.

Where Have You Been, Sam Hunt?!
