Iowa Donor Night featuring the Modified Dale Miller Memorial at the Independence Motor Speedway was slated for last weekend, but rain moved in after only two features were completed. That forced officials to postpone the running of the inaugural event one week.

Lauritzen started ninth for the Performance Bodies IMCA Modified premiere event, but found a hole along the bottom of the track to get into the mix for the lead right away. A series of yellow flags helped keep the field tight in the early going of the 25-lap memorial race. Eventually he was able to put his machine into the lead by lap three. Despite pressure late, Lauritzen held off all challengers to put his name into the the record books as the first ever winner of the Dale Miller Memorial.

Brian Irvine suffered heavy damage during the early wave of caution flags, but he was able to continue and never gave up. Falling as far back as eighth, Irvine climbed to the top of the speedway and began his match back towards the front. He piloted his roughed up machine into second. Despite putting pressure on Lauritzen late, Irvine had to settle for second place.

Vern Jackson drove home in third. Tyler Droste started 19th to finish fourth, and Mike Burbridge rounded out the top five.

Sean Johnson had to deal with heavy lapped traffic, but he held on for the Budweiser IMCA Late Model make-up feature win. Greg Kastli, Scotty Welsch, Jon Passick, and Tyler Droste completed the top five finishers.

Kevin Rose captured the make-up A-Main for the Burco Sales IMCA Stock Car, and Don Eger put his ride into the Budweiser Victory Lane when he claimed the win for the RCZ Enterprises Indee Car feature.
