Hawkeye Dirt Tour & Dirt Knight Merge for 2018 Season

IMCA made some big noise today when they announced that the Hawkeye Dirt Tour and the Dirt Knights will merge into what promises to be an even big modified tour in 2018.

There are still a lot of details that have yet to officially be released, but what we know so far is that the purse for each HDT event has been dramatically increased. Each event will be broadcast on IMCATV, and we can assume that some of these races will end up on the Dirt Knights television show that airs on MAVTV.

Eight races are confirmed with a couple more yet to be scheduled said IMCA President Brett Root. Opening night will be Monday, May 28 at the traditional home track of the IMCA Modified division, Benton County Speedway in Vinton.

Feature winners earn a $2,000 share of the $10,000 purse to be paid each night. All features are qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and pay a minimum of $200 to start and $100 tow.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Entry fee will be $75.

“The tour has opened at Vinton six times since it was started in 2010 and our intentions are to continue a similar schedule as in previous seasons date and location-wise,” Root said. “We will finalize details and announce the schedule this month.”

“Arnold Motor Supply became title sponsor of the Hawkeye Dirt Tour last season,” he noted, “and we look forward to their continued involvement again this season.”

An average of more than 32 IMCA Modifieds competed at Hawkeye Dirt Tour events in 2017 while the Dirt Knights broadcast followed the Dakota Classic Tour adventures of eventual national champion Jason Wolla, Corey Dripps, Hunter Marriott, Johnny Scott and Brock and Cody Bauman.
