The Hawkeye Dirt Tour takes its first green flag of 2015 on Tuesday, May 12. The home track of IMCA Modifieds, Benton County Speedway in Vinton, will host the first of 10 races. This marks the 6th season for the Iowa-based, dirt track modified series.

Each feature pays a minimum of $1,000 to win and will be a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying event.  All tour features pay a minimum of $150 to start, and tow money is $75.  The champion earns a $600 share of the tour’s $3,000 point fund, plus bonus points applicable toward national and regional standings.

After Benton County, I-35 Speedway at Mason City hosts their annual Memorial Day special on May 25. The night before will be another $1,000 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying event. All though it is not an event of the HDT schedule, the Skip Rose Memorial draws the best modified drivers in the area, and it makes for a great two-day weekend.

Touring IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds will be paired with the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for three events this season. The first will be on June 9 at Jackson County Speedway in Maquoketa. The final two dates of the season will also be a double-feature with the Deery Series: August. 11 at Cedar County Raceway in Tipton and September 19 at Farley Speedway.

The Harris Clash on July 26 once again fins itself on the 2015 line-up. Joining the HDT at the Knoxville Raceway, the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods to Knoxville Raceway will join the 23rd running of this crown jewel event.

Also returning to this season's list of tracks include the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa on June 11, the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson on June 18, the Hancock County Speedway in Britt on June 30, and the Buena Vista Raceway in Alta on July 22.

“Tour car counts increased significantly last season. All events last year drew more cars as this series has become a staple for many drivers from across the state,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “Some events are held in conjunction with the Deery Series, others with tracks’ annual specials.”

“Promoters look forward to hosting Hawkeye Dirt Tour races,” he added. “Drivers like the opportunity to travel and events are well attended by local fans.”

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Belleville Motorsports North Central Region and Allstar Performance State points, and in some instances local track points, will be awarded.
