Talk about an accomplishment.

Joe Perricone was a high school student attending Hillsborough High School in 1943. In February of 1943, Perricone got drafted to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. Perricone was sent to Europe and later returned back to Tampa after the war. Perricone did receive a diploma but sadly, did not get to walk for graduation.

Until this past Saturday.

Perricone's grandson, Judge Thomas Palermo, arranged for his grandfather to walk at the school's graduation ceremony on Saturday. With the help of the school board and Principal Gary Brady, Perricone walked across the stage and received his diploma in person and military honors 70 years after leaving school to join the war.

Congratulations to Perricone on walking for graduation! It was hard work and determination... and a little time... that allowed Perricone to still walk on graduation day which he obviously deserved. Thank you for your service Perricone!
