Two Waterloo men are facing felony charges following a traffic stop in the city Monday afternoon (Jan. 28, 2019).

According to a press release, officers with the Violent Crimes Apprehension Team were conducting a weapons investigation when they pulled a vehicle over near the intersection of U.S. Highway 218 and Shaulis Road around 1:45 PM. Police said they found a quantity of marijuana, digital scales, an amount of U.S. currency and a semi-automatic handgun during a search of the vehicle.

Officers then arrested the vehicle's driver and a passenger.

According to police, 18-year-old Jumonie Wilson was booked into the Black Hawk County Jail on charges of carrying weapons, interference with officials acts while armed and conspiracy to distribute marijuana while armed. Court documents list Wilson as the passenger. He allegedly jumped behind the while and attempted to drive off during the stop.

The driver was listed as 18-year-old Nicholas Halterman. Police said he was charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
