Wisconsin authorities have recovered the body of a Waterloo teenager from the Mississippi River.

Crawford County sheriff's officials identified the victim as 18-year-old Nathan Featherston. His body was pulled from the river north of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Monday, just before 3:30 PM.

The search for Featherston began around 3:15 AM Sunday, when authorities were notified of his disappearance. He was last seen near a boat landing.

According to sheriff's officials, a group of Featherston's friends were camping on an island in the area. They believe he drowned while trying to swim to the island.

The circumstances surrounding Featherston's death remain under investigation by Crawford County sheriff's officials.
