Waterloo Salvation Army Fails To Reach Kettle Donation Goal

The Waterloo Salvation Army bell ringers were out in full force leading up to Christmas. The donations goal for the year is $601,000. That accounts for 30% of the organization’s operating budget. But as of today, December 26th, the Waterloo Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign has raised $423,100, falling well short of the goal.

Despite the bells going silent until next November, the organization is continuing to collect funds toward the goal through the end of January. All donations can be made by mail, online, by phone, or in person before 11:59 pm on December 31 are tax-deductible.

The monies raised during the Red Kettle campaign allow the organization to provide services all year. In the city of Waterloo, those services include three emergency homeless shelters, a year-round youth center, crisis financial assistance, food services, and the Pathway of Hope program. A program that helps families break generational poverty cycles.
