Tornado Confirmed Near Dubuque on Monday Night

Monday night, shortly after 10:00, a tornado hit near the Dubuque Airport. It was rated an EF-1 with peak winds of 100mph and only traveled around 1/3 of a mile. It caused damage to corn, trees, and some homes. Two houses had their roofs partially torn off, and another suffered damage from a pine tree that was thrown into the side of the house. Photos HERE.

This is the 36^th confirmed tornado in Iowa this year and the first since July 9^th, according to the NWS. Iowa averages just under 50 tornadoes per year, but only 3, on average, in the month of August.
