Tim McGraw unveiled a brand-new single, called "Neon Church," on Thursday (Oct. 4); readers can press play above to hear it. The song finds McGraw healing a breakup at "a neon church with a jukebox choir / Full of honky-tonk angels with their wings on fire / Straight pourin' out that Johnnie Walker healing."

"Neon Church," a press release reports, comes from an upcoming new album from McGraw, due out in 2019. The country star co-produced the single with Byron Gallimore.

"Tim had such a vision for the sound and shape of this new music," Gallimore says. ""Neon Church" is an anthem from the first note and is so unique sonically."

McGraw tells Taste of Country Nights that "Neon Church" is one of his wife Faith Hill's favorites from his forthcoming project. "She’s got a lot of favorites on the record we are working on, but this is one that she really gravitated to," he shares. "She didn’t have any complaints with this being the first single. She loves the guitars on it and loves the lyric."

Prior to the release of "Neon Church," the country star was dropping hints about new music on social media, and encouraging fans to text him for more details. McGraw teased his new single on social media with both a post featuring the single's artwork and a brief video clip. Fans who followed the singer's Oct. 1 instructions to text him learned the song's title and got to see the single cover via text message.

McGraw also revealed via text message that a second song, "Thought About You," would be released on Thursday. Fans who aren't yet on McGraw's text list can text 615-205-5687 to start receiving messages.

In late September, McGraw wiped his social media accounts. His first message on his newly empty Twitter timeline came on Sept. 28: "I need Jesus or I need whiskey," which just so happens to be the first line of "Neon Church." A post from singer-songwriter Ross Ellis reports that he, Ben Goldsmith and Ben Stennis co-wrote the song.

"Neon Church" is McGraw's first new solo music since he released his last album, Damn Country Music, in 2015. That record spawned three singles, including the award-winning, No. 1 hit "Humble and Kind." McGraw's most recent new music was a collaborative project with his wife, Faith Hill; together, they released The Rest of Our Life in 2017.
