Tight End Kittle On Track For Record Setting Deal

Yes, the sting of a Super Bowl loss takes some time to get over. But tight end George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers will soon have some extra dollar signs to help in the healing process. After another great season, Kittle is about to get PAID.

Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo with the NFL Network report that the 49ers want to get an extension with Kittle done quickly. The top of the tight end market last season was around $10 million per year. Sources expect Kittle to set the new bar at over $13 million per season. Not bad for pick number 146 in the 2017 NFL Draft!

Kittle has thrived in San Francisco. His breakout season was in 2018. He had 1377 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. He followed that up with this year's totals of 1053 yards and five more TDs. Kittle also was named to his second straight Pro Bowl. And he's not just a pass-catching tight end. His blocking is what makes him a complete player and so valuable to his team.

So while the Lombardi Trophy will have to wait, Kittle shouldn't have to wait to much longer to be the highest-paid tight end in football.
