Black Hawk County sheriff’s officials have released details on a two-vehicle accident that injured three people on Interstate 380 Thursday morning.

Authorities said Anna Bindert, 27, of Urbana, suffered series injuries in the crash. She was transported from the scene by Air Care helicopter to a Waterloo hospital, then was transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. The other driver, Maralyn Fagan, 64, and her passenger, William Fagan, 64, both of Waterloo, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to a Waterloo hospital for treatment.

Deputies responded to the accident just before 7 AM Thursday in the southbound lanes of I-380 at mile marker 58 near Gilbertville. According to sheriff’s officials, Bindert lost control of her northbound vehicle on ice-covered pavement. The vehicle then crossed the median and was struck on the driver’s side by the Fagans’ vehicle.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 380 near Gilbertville for nearly four hours.
