All experts agree that if you want to burn calories and get into shape you have to exercise. Running seems to be the go-to when it comes to getting that heart rate up but not all of us enjoy the task.

According to the website Thrillist.com, there are three other options for those of us who hate running.

1. Jumping rope -  It's not as high-impact as running is so it's actually easier on your knees. 30 minutes of jumping rope burns almost as many calories as a 30-minute jog.

2. Circuit training - Circuit training is a combination of things like jumping jacks, push-ups and lunges. You're supposed to do each one for about a minute with no breaks in between, so your heart rate stays up.

3. Interval Walking/Speed Walking - Interval walking is great for getting the heart rate up and it's WAY easier on your your knees. For best results, change your speed up about once a minute.
