A city-wide festival is returning to Evansdale under a new name this summer, following a two-year absence.

According to Mayor Doug Faas, two committees have formed to organize "Evansdale Community Days", which will be an all-day event held on Saturday, July 30, 2016. The festival will replace the "Good Ole' Days" celebration that ended in 2013.

Faas said the Evansdale Chamber of Commerce and Volunteer Firefighter's Association are collaborating on reviving the city-wide festival under the new name. He indicated that many of the events that made "Good Ole' Days" a popular celebration for years, are being brought back.

"Evansdale Community Days" will feature a parade, entertainment, kids activities and the traditional mud volleyball tournament. First-time events that organizers are hoping to add this year are a Fireman's Dance and a youth wrestling tournament.

The Mayor said fireworks likely won't be part of the revived festival this summer, but organizers are hoping to add fireworks and expand the entire event beyond one day in the future.

Volunteers are needed to make "Evansdale Community Days" a success. Anyone interested in helping at the festival should contact the Evansdale Chamber of Commerce.
