Oelwein Community School district voters went to the polls Tuesday (Sept. 13) and passed the continuation of a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy.
The PPEL was approved by an unofficial vote talley of 122 "yes" votes, to 30 "no" votes. It needed a simple majority to pass.

The current levy of $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed property valuation will be in effect until 2020; Tuesday's Public measure will continue the same levy for another 10 years, until 2030.

Funds from the levy would help pay for facilities, technology, school vehicles and other items; it would not be used for staff salaries.

Residents also filled a vacancy on the Oelwein School board, by voting-in Erin Ryan for Director-At-Large.

She received a total of 152 of the 158 votes cast in the special election.
