Voters in the Oelwein Community School district will be going to the polls today, to decide on extending a levy, and also filling a school board seat.
The Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, or PPEL, would raise money to help pay for facilities, technology, school vehicles, and other items. It is not used for staff salaries.

The current PPEL is $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, and goes through 2020. The proposed extension would be for another ten years, at the same rate.

Voters will also elect a school board member for a three-year term. Current board member Erin Ryan of Hazleton is running for the seat.

Voting is at the Oelwein Community Plaza, with polls open from noon to 8pm.
