An Independence woman, accused of doing extensive damage to the inside of an elementary school, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.


22 year old Autumn Meiborg allegedly broke into the West Elementary School in Independence on April 24th, and vandalized the building, causing over $33,800 in damages.

Meiborg pleaded guilty to the charges of Burglary in the 3rd Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree on July 13th.

Meiborg was on probation when she burglarized the school, for a 2015 break-in of the Total Image Salon, and the 2016 burglary of a residence. Both crimes took place in Independence.

Her probation was revoked when she was sentenced to 10 years in prison on August 25th. Meiborg was also ordered to pay restitution to the victims.
