The search for a new University of Northern Iowa president is nearing completion. Three finalists are scheduled to visit the Cedar Falls campus this week.

The Board of Regents announced the first finalist for the position on Monday (Nov. 28, 2016).

Former Temple University president Dr. Neil Theobald will visit the Cedar Falls campus Tuesday to meet with faculty, staff, students and members of the community. He will participate in a public forum from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. in the Old Central Ballroom of Maucker Union.

The names of the other finalists will be announced prior to their visits to UNI on Wednesday and Thursday. The Regents are hoping to select a new president on Dec. 6th.

UNI has been without a permanent president since June 1, when William Ruud left for a similar position at Marietta College in Ohio. Jim Wohlpart, the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at UNI, has been serving as the school's interim president since July 3.
