An Oelwein man was involved in a three-vehicle accident that sent one person to the hospital in central Iowa Sunday afternoon (Jan. 7, 2018).

The Iowa State Patrol said a pickup truck, driven by Jordan Ingram, was hit by a car that crossed the median on U.S. Highway 20 in Hardin County. Ingram, 22, was traveling west when the mishap occurred.

According to an accident report, Carli Fenn, 20, of Carson, was driving east when her car went onto the southbound shoulder. State troopers said she over-corrected, and her car went into the median and onto the westbound lanes. The car then struck a sport utility vehicle and Ingram’s pickup.

Ingram and Fenn escaped injuries in the crash, but authorities said the third driver was transported to the Iowa Falls hospital. They identified the SUV’s driver as David Pietan, 52, of Johnston.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. near the Steamboat Rock interchange.
