A non-profit organization is doubling the reward being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the unsolved abduction and murders of two young cousins in northeast Iowa seven years ago.

On Tuesday, Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers announced that $50,000 is now available for information in the kidnapping and killings of 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins and 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey. The cousins disappeared while riding their bicycles in Evansdale on July 13, 2012. The girls’ bodies were found by hunters five months later at the Seven Bridges Wildlife Area in Bremer County, nearly 25 miles away.

To date, authorities have made no arrests in the case despite actively pursuing thousands of tips. Investigators are hoping the higher reward helps them solve the crime.

Tips can be submitted by calling the Evansdale Police Department at 319-232-6682 or Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers at 855-300-8477. Authorities continue to actively pursue thousands of leads in the case, but they still don't know who kidnapped and killed 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins and 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey. The cousins disappeared while riding their bicycles in Evansdale on July 13, 2012. Their bodies were found by hunters five months later in a remote area of Bremer County.

Now, investigators are hoping a new reward helps them solve the crime.

At 10 AM Tuesday, officials with Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers plan to disclose the amount. According to authorities, the new reward money is the result of a private donation from an anonymous source.
