St. Patrick's Day is this weekend which means that EVERYTHING has to be GREEN! That's right, the only way to celebrate this holiday is by making everything green, including your beer! However, if you don't want to go spend a bunch of money for green beer or just want to be smart and stay home in case you drink too much, here are some tips for how to dye your beer the right way to turn green.

1. Don't use blue food coloring unless you want a turquoise color! Some people believe using blue food coloring is the best way to get green beer, I mean we were taught in art class that if you mix blue and yellow you get green, but unfortunately that mentality does not work for beer. It is best to use GREEN food coloring if you want it to come out green.

2. It works best with light beer, like a lager or pilsner.  The lighter the beer, the greener it'll look.

3. Use somewhere between 2 and 5 drops of green food coloring per beer.  It depends on what type of beer you use and what shade of green you want.

4. Add the food coloring to your glass before you pour the beer in.  It mixes better that way, so don't need to use a spoon or slosh it around.
