Several area cities are celebrating America's 240th birthday with fireworks displays and other activities this weekend. Here is the list of 2016 community events, including information links.

Black Hawk County:

WATERLOO – Friday, July 1, 2016 at approximately 10 p.m.
Site: Riverfront Stadium – 850 Park Road
Details: Fireworks follow Waterloo Bucks vs. Mankato MoonDogs 7:05 p.m. baseball game. Gates open at 6 p.m.

WATERLOO – Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10 p.m.
Site: National Cattle Congress Fairgrounds – 257 Ansborough Ave.
Details: The Cedar Valley Jaycees Fireworks Festival will provide plenty of family, friendly pre-fireworks excitement, including live music featuring Lotus and Wild Card (5 p.m. - midnight ) and The Wicked Andersons (8 p.m.-Midnight). Admission is free.

WATERLOO – Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 9:45 p.m.
Site: Lost Island Water Park – 2225 East Shaulis Road
Details: The Lost Island Water Park display is part of the July 4th Carnival Weekend at the adjacent KOA Bamboo Ridge Campground. The July 1-4 event will feature several carnival games, including ring toss, balloon darts, duck pool, balloon animals and dunk tank.

WATERLOO – Monday, July 4, 2016 at approximately 10 p.m.
Site: Riverfront Stadium – 850 Park Road
Details: Fireworks follow Waterloo Bucks vs. Rochester Honkers modified doubleheader, which begins at 6:05 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m.

Details: Annual display for members of the private club.


Bremer County:

Fredericka - Monday, July 4, 2016 at Dusk
Site: East Side of Town
Details: Fireworks are part of "Fredericka's Fourth Fest", which runs July 1-4, 2016. The four-day festival also includes garage sales, softball tournaments, parade, fireman's dance, and hypnotist.

Buchanan County:

AURORA - Monday, July 4, 2016 at Dusk
Site: City Park - Main St. & Union St. (County Road W45), South Side of Town
Details: Organizers promote the event as an "Old Fashion 4th of July".

INDEPENDENCE – Monday, July 4, 2016 from 10 - 10:30 p.m.
Site: Near Downtown, Over The Wapsipinicon River
Details: Bring a chair or blanket to Riverwalk Park to experience what organizers promote as one of the best fireworks shows in northeast Iowa! The event features concessions and musical entertainment both before and after the fireworks. Veteran’s Park on the west side of the river and south of Riverwalk Park also offers exceptional viewing.

SHELL ROCK - Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 10 p.m.
Site: Behind Shell Rock Elementary School - 214 N. Cherry St.
Details: The city-wide celebration runs July 1-4, 2016, and also features carnival rides, a 5K run, a 4th of July parade, kiddie parade, live music, laser tag, and garage sales at a variety of sites.

GARNAVILLO - Monday, July 4, 2016 at Dusk
Site: Garnavillo City Park - U.S. Highway 52 (N. Main Street)
Details: The celebration has several other events, including an ice cream social and teddy bear parade on Sunday, July 3, 2016 and a 5K walk/run, live music, parade, demonstrations, food, games and contests on Monday, July 4 before the fireworks.

GUTTENBERG - Saturday, July 2, 2016 at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Site: Guttenberg Riverfront, Over The Mississippi River
Details: The "Stars & Stripes Celebration" at Ingleside Park (200 block of N. River Park Dr.) includes a 5K walk/run; food vendors and beverage garden; music, games, and parade. This year's theme: "Parade of Stars".

MARQUETTE - Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Dusk
Site: Marquette Riverfront, Over The Mississippi River
Details: Celebrate the 4th of July alongside the Mississippi River in a classic, small-town celebration full of pride and joy. The celebration also includes a parade, live music, beer tent, food and a flea market.

Details: Carnival rides, a square dance and music are all part of the celebration.

Site: Little League Diamond - Prospect St. & W. South Side Road.
Details: The celebration begins with a vehicle cruise on July 3rd from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 4th activities will be held all day, starting with a 5K fun run at 9 a.m. Other events include a bean bag tournament, parade, car/motorcycle show, human foosball and food.

Site: Riverside Park and Inwood Ballroom - 116 Bridge St. (Iowa Highway 325)
Details: Organizers promote this fireworks display as the largest in Northeast Iowa. Several other events are planned for the day, including music and games. Admission to the park is $3 per person, $5 per vehicle.
