Cracking open a book from your favorite author is always a comforting feeling.

I remember feeling massive excitement when one of my favorite authors would announce a new book. Who was that author for you?

The one that you eagerly would scurry to the bookstore for...

Or quickly pre-order the novel as soon as announcement came out...

Well, a few of the most well-known authors, who have definitely made us feel this way or coming to Iowa as part of a speaking engagement series.

AViD Brings in the Best of the Best in the Literary World

Multiple major authors are set to come to the capital city for this literary event. It's a part of the Des Moines Public Library’s Author's Visiting in Des Moines series. It's better known as AVid.

Multiple big names have been booked to appear as part of this series.

No matter what genre of books you love to read, there will be an author that strikes your fancy.

One of the biggest writers that will be a part of this event has worked with the likes of Dolly Parton and Bill Clinton.

James Patterson Comes To Des Moines

Arguably one of the biggest names expected to be a part of this series. The New York Times bestselling author will be heading out to Des Moines in April.

Patterson has won nine Emmy awards, an Edgar Award, as well as the National Humanities Medal, just to name a few.

There will be a Q&A after the event and a book signing. Patterson will only be signing copies of his latest novel The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians at this event.

He will be a part of this series and is set to appear at the Scottish Rite Consistory (519 Park Street) on Wednesday, April 10th at 7:00 PM.
