Ok, I'll be 100% honest, I had to GOOGLE these cookies to figure out what they are. No lie. According to General Mills, Iowa's favorite Christmas cookie is...

Swedish Kringla.

What? I had to look 'em up. But before you run to do the same, you can see a pic of them below. They're loaded with goodies like butter, vanilla, butter milk, sour cream... and they look pasty as an Iowan in February.

Iowa has the distinction of being the only state to have the Swedish Kringla (or Swedish anything) as our favorite. Other favorite cookies by state include Snickerdoodles for Minnesota, Easy spritz cookies for Illinois and German almond cookies take the cake erm, crumbs, in Wisconsin.

See all 50 states faves here. And if you're feeling adventurous, here's a recipe for Swedish Kringla cookies so you can be festive this Christmas. PS, if you plan to make some, I'd love to be your official taste tester. Just saying.
