The buzzer sounded inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena Sunday afternoon to signify the end of Iowa's hard-fought 72-65 win over a first-place Illinois team. But the action wasn't quite over.

Sunday's game was a slugfest between two rival teams that don't much care for each other. It's a rivalry that has been missing the past several seasons after hard times in the Illinois basketball program. But the Illini are back, and they did NOT much appreciate a Joe Wieskamp dunk with 12 seconds left to go in the game.

Wieskamp claims that he assumed he was going to get fouled on the play so he just took the ball aggressively to the hoop. No foul, just an exclamation point on a hard-fought Iowa win. But the drama didn't end there. The handshake line following the final buzzer had its own viral moment. Illinois assistant coach Ron Coleman can be seen hurling insults at Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery. McCaffery responded by pulling out of the handshake line and instructing his players to do the same.

Luka Garza led the way again for Iowa with 25 points. The Hawkeyes are now 16-6 overall, and 7-4 in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes are at Purdue on Wednesday night.   [via HawkCentral]
