A 19-year-old Marine from Iowa will be laid to rest Saturday in his hometown of Dike.

According to his obituary, Private First-Class Tyler Cox died April 29 in a training accident at a military base in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He was killed at Camp LeJeune, where he was stationed.

Funeral services are scheduled Saturday at 11 AM at Dike-New Hartford High School. Following the funeral, burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike with military honors by the United States Marine Corps.

Abels Funeral Home-Dike Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

According to the obituary, Cox was born in Waterloo. He went to Dike-New Hartford High School, where he graduated early to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps.

No details have been released publicly on the training accident that killed Cox.

Wednesday night, Cox's body was flown to Iowa from North Carolina. State and local law enforcement officers, along with the Patriot Guard Riders, escorted his body from the Des Moines International Airport to Dike as veterans and other supporters lined the streets and overpasses along the 117-mile route.
