Workers removing coolers from a former Supermarket in Council Bluffs in January discovered the remains of a former employee who had been missing since 2009 when he was 25-years-old. The grocery store had closed three years ago.

Investigators used his parents' DNA to confirm the man's identity.

CNN reports that Investigators believe that he went to the store and climbed on top of the coolers. The space was used as storage and employees would sometimes go there to hide when they wanted to take an unofficial break.

Police also think he fell into the 18-inch gap between the back of the cooler and a wall, where he became trapped.

Noise from the coolers' compressors may have concealed any attempts to call for help.

An autopsy found no signs of trauma and the case has been deemed an accidental death.
