Quick action by medical personnel may have saved the life of a wrestler competing at the Iowa High School State Dual Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines today (Wednesday, February 18, 2015).

Tayler Pettit of Creston/Orient-Macksburg doubled-over and collapsed shortly after completing his match against an opponent from La Porte City Union.

Medical personnel working matside at Wells Fargo Arena quickly attended to Pettit and frantically began administering CPR. According to multiple sources, the medical staff used an automated external defibrillator (AED) to revive Pettit, who was taken from the arena on a stretcher.

Pettit was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.
