The National Weather Service in Des Moines says that Eastern Iowa is at risk today for severe Storms. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats.

Some areas in the state desperately need the rain. Since July 1, Waterloo has seen 4.3" of rain. The normal amount in that time span is around 8.6".

In Carroll County, where the drought is at its worst, they've only received just 4.7" of rain since June 1. (Normal amount in those three months is over 13")

There's only been two occasions this entire year where Carroll County has had more than one inch of rain in a single day. (3/20 & 8/11)
