Even though the grasshoppers are just migrating through, they are attracted to UV light which there is a lot of in Vegas.

You know there's a lot of grasshoppers when the National Weather Service actually has to Tweet: "Wind gusts between 30-40 mph will be likely as these winds move through the valley. Watch for areas of blowing dust and grasshoppers which may limit visibility."
