Evansdale Lifts Boil Water Advisory

City officials in Evansdale have given the go-ahead for residents to use water from their faucets again.

According to a fire department Facebook post, a boil order that has been in place for the past several days was lifted around 8:15 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 4, 2018).

Officials said a second test on the city's water system showed no signs of contamination. An earlier test also came back clean.

Evansdale residents can use their water again without any restrictions. In the Facebook post, city officials said residents do not need to flush the lines.

The boil advisory was issued Monday night when sensors in the Evandale water tower froze and left the entire community without water for about 90 minutes. The sensors regulate the amount of water being pumped and circulated. When they froze, an ice cap formed on top of the water level inside the tower, which shutdown the system.

City officials are still trying to determine the exact cause of the problem, the Facebook post said.

Until further notice, they want residents to keep their cold water faucet running at a very slow trickle to avoid any future problems.
