There will be no trip to the 2020 Boys State Basketball Tournament for Waterloo West.

The third-ranked Wahawks lost a last-second heart-breaker to fifth-ranked North Scott of Eldridge, 41-40, in a Class 4A substate championship game played at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids Tuesday night.

Daquavian Walker's shot from the right of the lane with six-tenths of a second left in the game put the West ahead 40-38. But, the Lancers responded with a desperation play that decided the game. Although it appeared time may have expired, the three-pointer counted.

The Wahawks' season ends at 20-3.
