The UNI men's basketball team is making plans to spend part of Thanksgiving week this year in the Caribbean.

The Panthers will be competing in the 2020 Cayman Islands Classic, tournament organizers announced on Wednesday. The three-day, eight-day tournament is scheduled for Nov. 23-25 at John Gray Gymnasium in Georgetown, Grand Cayman.

The rest of the field will consist of Kansas State, Mississippi (Ole Miss), Nevada, La Salle, Miami (Florida), Oregon State and Western Kentucky. First-round pairings for the tournament have not yet been determined.

All eight teams will be playing in the Cayman Islands Classic for the first time in 2020, which marks the fourth consecutive year of the event. Iowa was part of the inaugural eight-team field in 2017. Former champions include George Mason, Creighton and Cincinnati.

UNI athletic officials said information on tournament travel packages for fans will be available by Feb 10.
