The UNI Panthers won a pair of basketball games at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls Sunday afternoon (Dec. 10, 2017).

The women's team opened the doubleheader with a 92-62 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside. The men's team then completed the sweep by beating Dubuque, 80-47, in the nightcap.

UNI 80, Dubuque 47 (Men):

The Panthers (8-2 overall) started fast and used a balanced scoring attack to win its sixth-straight home game. UNI jumped out to a 15-0 lead cruised to a victory over its Division III opponent from the Iowa Conference (IIAC).

Senior Bennett Koch scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds for UNI in 15 minutes of action. Sophomore Isaiah Brown knocked in 4-of-5 shots from the field, including a pair of three-pointers as he tallied 11 points. Junior Wyatt Lohaus buried a trio of threes and scored 11 points off the bench.

Fourteen players scored and 15 tallied a rebound for the Panthers in their sixth-straight home win. UNI's bench outscored the Spartans' reserves, 46-16.

The Panthers drained 12 three-pointers and shot 48.2 percent from the floor. Dubuque (5-4 overall) was limited to 26.9 percent shooting from the field. UNI won the rebounding battle, 45-34.

UP NEXT: UNI travel to Des Moines on Saturday (Dec. 16) to take part in The Hy-Vee Classic against the Iowa State Cyclones. Tip-off is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. The first game of the doubleheader features the Iowa Hawkeyes against the Drake Bulldogs at 1 p.m.

UNI 92, Wisconsin-Parkside 62 (Women):

The Panthers (3-6 overall) returned home following a grueling six-straight road trip that ended with four-consecutive losses. UNI snapped its skid by shooting a season-high 50-percent from the floor. They started fast and kept the defensive pressure on the entire 40 minutes, forcing the Rangers to commit 21 turnovers.

The 92-points the Panthers scored against their Division II opponent were a season-high. UNI made 11 three-pointers, which was three shy of a single-game school record.

Freshman Nicole Kroeger led the Panthers with a career-high 19 points, while sophomore Megan Maahs scored 15 and junior Ellie Howell added 12 to round out the double-figure scorers.

The Panthers’ hot streak began early in the first quarter, after UNI went on a 12-4 run to close out the opening period with a 26-13 advantage over Wisconsin-Parkside (4-9 overall). UNI increased its lead to 20 points in the second quarter with 6-of-8 shooting from behind the arc.

UP NEXT: The Panthers are home again on Sunday (Dec. 17), when they host the Iowa Hawkeyes in a 2 p.m. game at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls.
