La Porte City Union didn't have much trouble with its first opponent at the Iowa High School Girls State Volleyball Tournament in Cedar Rapids Wednesday morning (Nov. 9, 2016).

Making their sixth state appearance in seven years, the top-ranked Knights (39-4) disposed of Osage 3-0 in the Class 3A quarterfinals. Match scores were 25-19, 25-20 and 25-20.

Senior outside hitters Megan Hudson and Peyton Parker led the offensive attack for Union, recording 21 and 17 kills, respectively. Senior libero Cierra Nolan had 10 digs.

The Knights advance to the semifinals on Thursday afternoon.

Osage (23-12) was playing its first state tournament since 2000. The Green Devils earned their 11th trip to state by surprising defending champion West Delaware in the regional championships.
