Iowa’s Virtual Dirt Track Classic Kicks Off Monday Night

The second annual Iowa's Virtual Dirt Track Classic, presented by Bill Colwell Ford in Hudson, kicks off Monday, January 23 with a live Facebook feed.

FACEBOOK LIVE: 2017 #VDTC Reveal Show
The #VDTC2017 Reveal Show will hit Facebook Live on Monday, January 23 starting at 7:30 PM-CST. Everyone will find out which drivers have been nominated for this year's virtual race. The feed will originate on K985.com's Facebook wall. WHAT IS THE #VDTC:
Iowa's Virtual Dirt Track Classic is Townsquare Media Waterloo's version of a 'Most Popular Driver' contest. The event is powered by the race fans from across the Hawkeye state. The more votes a driver gets, the faster they go in this virtual race.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
The #VDTC2017 features five divisions and includes Modifieds, Late Models, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, and SportMods/Bmods. To be eligible, a driver must meet one of the following requirements: a resident of Iowa, compete at a dirt track in Iowa on a regular basis, and/or compete in one of the Iowa-based tours. The only other parameter is that a driver must have had an outstanding year in 2016 to be considered.

FOR CONSIDERATION:
Winning a track championship, an Iowa-based tour championship, or a national championship are examples of things the #VDTC2017 Nomination Committee considered when looking at a driver's 2016 resume. Things like key event wins, tour point standings, and All Iowa Points standings were also factored into their decisions.

Racing sanctioning bodies were not a consideration. It did not matter if a driver raced under IMCA, outlaw, USRA, or any other set of rules. All drivers who meet the eligibility requirements were evaluated.

YOUR FAVORITE DIDN'T MAKE THE LIST: Nominate Them
During the #VDTC2017 Reveal Show, not only will everyone find out who has been nominated, but there will be details on how a driver could still be added to the list. The show will tell Iowa Dirt Track Racing fans who everyone can nominate a driver. The #VDTC2017 At-Large Committee will weigh in before the field is locked in on Thursday, January 26.

VOTING BEGINS FRIDAY:
The Bill Colwell Ford Main Events voting begins on Friday, January 27 at 6:00 AM. Each week a handful of drivers will be eliminated until there is only one driver left in each division.

IN 2016:
Matt Webb (Modifieds), Tyler Droste (Late Model), Jake Masters (Stock Cars), Justin Wacha (Hobby Sotcks), and Tony Olson (SportMods/Bmods) were crowned as the Iowa Virtual Dirt Track Classic inaugural winners.
