Iowa High School Volleyball Class 5A Regional Finals Tonight

The field for the 2016 Iowa High School Volleyball State Tournament will be set in Class 5A after tonight's (Oct. 31) Region Championship matches.

REGION 1: at Cedar Falls, 7:00 PM
Cedar Falls versus Sioux City East

Cedar Falls was ranked #1 when the final IGHSAU high school volleyball rankings were released at the end of the regular season. CF beat Fort Dodge 3-0 (25-4 25-15 25-16) in their semifinal match. Sioux City East beat Sioux City West 3-0 (25-20 25-12 25-12) in the semifinal.

REGION 2: at Ankeny Centennial, 7:00 PM
Ankey Centennial versus Johnston

#3 Ankeny Centennial will take on #12 Johnston for the Region 2 title. Centennial beat up Des Moines East 3-0 (25-4 25-11 25-9) to advance to tonight's match. Johnston blanked Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson 3-0 (25-16 25-6 25-8)

REGION 3: at Ankeny, 7:00 PM
Ankeny versus Waukee

#5 Ankeny shut out Ames 3-0 in their semifinal game only allowing 35 points (25-9 25-11 25-13) . Waukee upset #13 Urbandale 3-0 (25-10 25-21 26-24) to move into tonight's Region 3 championship game.

REGION 4: at Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 7:00 PM
Cedar Rapids Kennedy versus Dowling Catholic, WDM

Cedar Rapids Kennedy put down Marshalltown 3-0 (25-12 25-17 25-17) and will host tonight's title game. Dowling Catholic, West Des Moines won a 3-1 (15-25 27-25 29-27 25-18) match against Des Moines Roosevelt. Dowling Catholic was ranked 3rd in the final IGHSAU rankings of the season while Kennedy was 6th.

REGION 5: at West Des Moines Valley, 7:00 PM
West Des Moines Valley versus Cedar Rapids Prairie

#3 West Des Moines Valley will host the Region 5 title game after beating Indianola 3-0 (25-15 25-12 25-14). #14 Cedar Rapids Prairie won a hard fought 3 game match against Cedar Rapids Jefferson (25-23 27-25 25-21) in the semifinal match.

REGION 6: at Iowa City West, 7:00 PM
Iowa City West versus Bettendorf

#9 Iowa City West will host #9 Bettendorf in the Region 6 championship game. Iowa City West took three straight from Muscatine (25-11 25-11 25-12) on Tuesday to advance. Bettendorf beat Burlington 3-0 (25-12 25-14 25-12) for their ticket to tonight's region final.

REGION 7: at Dubuque Hempstead, 7:00 PM
Dubuque Hempstead versus Iowa City High

The 10th ranked Iowa City High squad will travel to Dubuque Hemstead for tonight's championship match. Iowa City High swept Cedar Rapids Washington (25-18 25-13 25-18) in their semifinal game. Dubuque Hempstead put down Waterloo West 3-0 (25-12 25-13 25-14) to advance.

REGION 8: at Marion, Linn-Mar, 7:00 PM
Linn-Mar versus Pleasant Valley

Linn-Mar was ranked as the #4 squad in the state when the final rankings were released by the IGHSAU. They beat Davenport North 3-0 (25-15 25-15 25-7) to advance to tonight's championship match. Pleasant Valley swept Davenport Central 3-0 (25-12 25-14 25-18) to move into the championship game. PV had just fell outside of the Top 15 when the final IGHSAU rankings were released.
