Dike-New Hartford senior Taylor Hedges plans to play collegiate volleyball close to home next season. The Wolverines' four-sport star will be on the UNI Panthers' fall roster, head coach Bobbi Petersen announced on Tuesday (April 19, 2016).

Hedges, of New Hartford, earned all-state honorable mention and second-team all-conference honors this past season, while helping the Wolverines to a semifinal finish at the 2015 state tournament. She was also a member of Dike-New Hartford's state championship squads in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

The 5'7" defensive specialist enjoyed a stellar club career as well, playing on CIA (2010-11; 2015-16), Six Pack (2011-12; 2013-2015) and Legit (2012-13).

Volleyball isn't the only sport Hedges excels at. Playing basketball, she earned first-team, all-region honors as a senior this past season. Hedges is a four-time state qualifier in track and field and set a school record in the 400-meter hurdles in 2014. Hedges earned letters in volleyball (4), track (4), basketball (3) and softball (2) at Dike-New Hartford.

Hedges is the daughter of Sara Fails and Steve Hedges. She has one sibling, Madison.

Hedges hasn't yet decided on a major at UNI.
