The Waterloo Black Hawks made a single goal stand up in a 1-0 victory over the Tri-City Storm Friday at Viaero Center in central Nebraska.

The result ended the Storm’s six-game winning streak.

A Waterloo power play in the first period yielded the only score. Jack Drury handled the puck beside the net and dropped it back to Jackson Cates at the left point. Cates’ try hit goalie Filip Larsson and trickled across the goal line at 14:30.

Waterloo limited the Storm to just eight shots on goal during the first two periods. Hawks goaltender Jared Moe was much busier in the third, turning away 17 Tri-City attempts. His best stop was with the glove, snaring a blast from the high slot by Jace Foskey with just under eight minutes remaining in regulation.

Moe made a total of 25 saves for his second shutout of the season.

The Hawks and Storm faceoff again on Saturday in Kearney. The game marks the end of a five-game trip for Waterloo; the Hawks return to Young Arena on November 17th against the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
