Two power play goals gave the Waterloo Black Hawks all the scoring they needed. On Friday, April 15, 2016, the Black Hawks earned a 2-1 road playoff win against the Lincoln Stars.

Game Two of the best-of-five USHL Clark Cup Playoff series will be tonight in Lincoln.

The matchup at the Ice Box included eight power play opportunities for each team. In addition to their offensive success on special teams, Waterloo denied the Stars during seven of eight penalty killing situations.

The Black Hawks cashed in on their fourth power play of the opening period. At 14:32, a cross-slot pass connected with Mikey Anderson, and he fired a shot through a maze of shin guards and past Peyton Jones.

Power plays accumulated for both teams during the second period, and the Hawks again notched a lone special teams goal. Liam Pecararo had possession up the ice and into the right corner, before feathering a pass to the top of the crease, where Sam McCormick banged it into the net.

The Stars broke through on the power play with 5:28 remaining in regulation. Grant Jozefek handled the puck behind the Waterloo net before dishing a feed into the slot, setting up Collin Peters to score on a low chance.

Cale Morris finished the night with 23 saves for the win. Jones took the loss with 26 stops.

Game Two between the Hawks and Stars will also be in Lincoln, with the opening puck drop at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. Waterloo will host Game Three of the first round set at Young Arena on Saturday, April 23rd. Playoff ticket packages and single game postseason tickets are available.
