As the Christmas carol goes, "yes we need a little Christmas, right this very minute"! This year, those words couldn't ring more true.

As Santa reminds us in the video below, made by the Cedar Falls Downtown District, "don't stop believing in the magic of Christmas"! In an effort to spread some Christmas cheer, downtown Cedar Falls will bring in the holidays a little differently this year. The elves on the planning committee, known as the "Hoo Herd", are busy planning the first-ever "Holiday Hoopla Kick-off Cruise, on Black Friday, November 27th from 6 to 8pm. It will be a "reverse parade" as the parade watchers will drive-by in their vehicles following the parade route shown here.

Unfortunately, there will be no on-stage extravaganza or fireworks this year, however Santa will still make his grand entrance and people can still view the beautiful downtown decorations. Speaking of which, many downtown Cedar Falls businesses will be participating in a window decorating contest. Shoppers are encouraged to submit their votes on-line here and remember, shopping locally is a good idea, especially this holiday season.

Santa's arrival at this annual event is always a bit unusual, we never know if it will be land, sea or air? I guess we'll just have to find out on November 27th. And as the song goes, especially in 2020, "we all need a little Christmas now".
