An Oelwein restaurant, closed for several months last year after a fire, has again closed for a couple of days, after a car crashed into the building over the weekend.

The accident happened at about noon Sunday (March 20th) at Country Cottage Cafe, located on South Frederick Avenue.

A driver pulling into a parking place at the front of the restaurant, apparently stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake and slammed into the building.

Four people eating inside the cafe, were injured, and taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein for treatment.

The driver, who was not identified, was not hurt.

Repairs are underway, and Country Cottage Cafe is expected to reopen for business on Tuesday.

In April of last year, a smokey fire in the basement closed down the cafe until workers could make repairs and clean out the smoke damage.
