If you were wondering why Brett Eldredge was absent from the 2016 CMA Awards, it's because he was busy living out his lifelong dream: watching the Chicago Cubs win a World Series.

After a more than 100-year losing streak, the Cubs finally pulled off a historic victory on Wednesday (Nov. 2), winning Game 7 of the series and clinching the coveted title. Eldredge was there to see it in person. The Illinois native and devout Cubs fan even got to sing "Go Cubs Go" at the Chicago Cubs Victory Rally on Friday (Nov. 4) in front of 5 million people.

"I grew up a huge Cubs fan just like you all and if I wasn't a singer, I'd be right out in the crowd with you ... I want this to be the loudest 'Go Cubs Go' that's ever been sang right here in Chicago," he tells the massive crowd in the video above, launching into the Cubs' signature song as team members sing along enthusiastically in the background.

Eldredge further showed off his pride for his favorite sports team when he was invited to walk in the celebratory parade alongside the team. He posted an Instagram photo the day of the rally, triumphantly holding the World Series trophy.

After celebrating the team's victory, the singer is off the Nashville to participate in the 2016 CMA Country Christmas special at the Grand Ole Opry. The show will air Nov. 28 on ABC. Eldredge is also hot on the heels of the release of his new Christmas album, Glow, which features a duet with Meghan Trainor on the classic "Baby, It's Cold Outside." He's been out on the road with Keith Urban as a supporting act on the Ripcord Tour, with dates continuing through November.
