Beck’s on the College Hill Sold to New Owners

Beck's Sports Grill, located on the College Hill in Cedar Falls, announced that the business has been sold to a new owner.

The business was sold for an undisclosed amount to Ginger's Pub. The current building that Ginger's Pub is located in was substantial damaged by a fire at The Great Wall on College Hill.

In a statement released by Beck's Sports Grill via their parent company Barmuda, "Beck’s lease was due to expire on December 31st, 2017 without any renewal options left, and Ginger’s has been working with their insurance company to find a way to relocate the Ginger’s business."

Beck’s Sports Grill has been located on College Hill since December of 2006 providing entertainment and great food to the UNI College Hill business district. Beck’s last day of operations on the Hill will be Saturday, August 20th.

“After discussing the issues, it just made sense to sell Ginger’s the Beck’s business and lease as we had no way to stay after next year anyway,” said Darin Beck, owner of Beck’s on the Hill. “We will miss being on the Hill, but we’ve known our presence there would come to an end soon.

"This transaction allows Ginger’s to move on with their planning, and it allows us to focus on operations that have long term plans and commitments."

Beck’s is planning going away parties all weekend long.

“All current employees have been offered employment with other Barmuda establishments and all have decided to stay on with Barmuda’s venues," Beck added. "We all hope people will come out between now and the end of the week for one more good time and say goodbye with us at Beck’s on the Hill. It’s been an incredible decade on the Hill for us, and we’re all a little sad to be leaving.”
