A Clermont man has been arrested after a one-vehicle accident in Fayette County early Sunday (March 10).


At about 12:30am, a Fayette County deputy found a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of Highway 3 and County Road W-33, east of Oelwein at the Stanley "S" curves.

A truck driven by 35 year old Matthew Swenson, was southbound on W-33, when he lost control, struck a stop sign, crossed Highway 3 and went into the ditch.

No injuries were reported, and damages to his 2019 GMC Sierra and the stop sign were estimated at $3,000.

Swenson was arrested on a charge of Operating While Intoxicated-2nd Offense, Public Intoxication, and several traffic violations. Swenson was released after an appearance before a magistrate.
