Animals Rescued From Eastern Iowa Roadside Zoo

An NBC affiliate, WHO-TV, has reported that hundreds of animals at a roadside zoo in Manchester have been rescued by the Animal Rescue League. Animals such as black bears, baboons and a wallaby we're reported as living in "deplorable conditions" as described by the ARL. Other animals such as racoons, hamsters, fish and birds were also rescued as well.

Representatives from the ARL have stated that the animals will be taken back to their location in Des Moines for treatment, rehabilitation and then eventually put up for adoption or sanctuary placement. The decision to remove the animals came after an Iowa District Court Judge ruled that the Cricket Hollow Zoo was neglecting the animals, a lawsuit was put in place and the zoo has since been shut down.
