A new article on FamilyMinded.com shared the best U.S. public high schools by state based on ratings, test scores and school programs. So, what is Iowa's best high school? Congratulations to Ames High School in Ames, Iowa for being named the best high school in the state!

Ames High School is Iowa's highest rated public school and also the only high school in Ames. Ames High School  offers a program for gifted students and has an extensive music program. There are about 1,270 students at the school and the reported  average SAT score is 1400, and the average ACT score is 27. There are also some notable alumni including Pulitzer Prize winner Robert L. Bartley and former Chicago Bulls Head Coach Fred Hoiberg.

Fun Fact: U.S. News actually ranks Iowa fifth out of 50 states for overall education levels and is ranked eighth out of 50 for K-12.
