It's a story many have heard but few have dared to visit this infamous house in Iowa. The Villisca Axe Murder house is in Villisca, Iowa and to this day the axe murders have not been solved. It's the mystery that has not been solved 107 years later, that turned friend against friend, family member against family member and neighbor against neighbor. It's a crime that still haunts the house to this day.

Picture this, June 10th, 1912... The Moore family have just returned to their house from the annual Children's Day program at a nearby Presbyterian church. Included in the group are Mr. & Mrs. Moore, their 4 children and 2 of the children's friends. They have locked in for the night and are going to bed. The next day, there is no sight of the family as their neighbor sees that they are not starting their morning chores. Mary Peckham, the Moore's next door neighbor, knocked on the family house door and after receiving no answer, she called Mr. Moore's brother Ross Moore.

Ross Moore came to the house and opened the door with one of his keys, but when he found what was inside I am sure he wished he had not  opened the door. Two bodies were laying in the parlor with blood surrounding them and as he went through the house he found all 8 occupants axed to death. Upon calling the police, it was the worst kept crime scene because some 100 people trampled through the scene curious until the Villisca National Guard showed up to tape off the scene. Even with an axe left at the scene, to this day, the murderer or murderers have not been caught as DNA testing was new at the time of crime scene investigating.

Today, the house is on the national register of historic places since 1998. Paranormal investigators have provided video, audio and photographic evidence of childrens voices, falling lamps, moving ladders, flying objects, etc.
