It's sad to think that when the COVID-19 pandemic ends, some of our favorite area eateries and bars may never re-open... But according to a new KCCI-TV report, that's the unfortunate truth. The Iowa Restaurant Association confirmed on Monday that 10% of the state's restaurants and bars are going to be unable to continue on, even when they legally can, due to coronavirus and the devastating financial effects it's inflicted on the country, and world.

Monday also brought a glimmer of hope as Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced during her regular COVID-19 press conference that a number of Iowa businesses in 77 of Iowa’s 99 counties can reopen Friday, May 1, at 50% capacity. That will certainly not be the case anytime soon in Black Hawk County as the total cases of COVID-19 has skyrocketed to over 1,300.

Stay home, stay safe.
