The bus was rear-ended by a car driven by 17 year old Lucinda Hansel of Arlington. She was taken to the Manchester Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
34 students were on the bus, however Hansel was the only one injured.

Hansel's 2004 Pontiac Bonneville had extensive front-end damage. There was some damage to the rear bumper of the school bus.

Charges are pending.

The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Fayette and Clayton County Sheriff's Offices, and Strawberry Point Fire Department.
